Inclement Weather Procedure
by Jeff Yoxall, Superintendent
As wintertime approaches, it is likely that hazardous weather soon will be upon us. In the event that road conditions become a hazard due to snow, ice, or flash floolding the following procedures will be used to determine whether or not USD 110 Thunder Ridge Schools will hold classes.
If possible, the Superintendent will make a decision to call off school by 6:45 a.m. The decision will be based on National Weather Service information, the input of other Superintendents in the area, and reports from local patrons and personal road tests.
In some cases, the start of school may be delayed by one or two hours. There are two reasons for this action. It will provide another hour to help determine if the weather is going to worsen, and if it doesn’t, it allows ours buses to travel their routes when there is more daylight.
